A toast to my brothers and sisters American Gold Star Mothers
The statute represents the camaraderie and the closeness of the grunt. Not Anglo, African, Hispanic or Native American, but flesh, bone and blood! They all shared everything and they all bleed the same color . . . RED! Just doing their job for their Country and Flag. Words by Jay Hirsch (68-69)
Dedicated November 10, 1993 this memorial serves to honor the more than 265,000 women who served during the Vietnam era.
Diane Carlson Evans, RN President and Founder

The idea of the Gold Star was that the honor and glory accorded the person for his or her supreme sacrifice in offering for their country, the last full measure of devotion and pride of the family in this great sacrifice.

Ann Y. Sherman Wolcott National President This car was built as a tribute to the 2,211 men who were unaccounted for in 1995 when the car was built, but in 2003 we added the names of all POWs including civilian POWs totaling 3,578 as Prisoners of War/Missing in Action during the Vietnam War from 1952 to 1975.
Max Loffgren (designer/builder) served in the Americal Division in Vietnam between 1969-1970. He is now a firefighter in Fairfield, California who has taken to the racing circuit. "The car speaks for itself...people understand it." His goal is to use the car more to educate than to race. "This is for those guys and their families."
